About Us

Upside Sunny is a deeply personal mission, driven by the experiences of a single teacher navigating the complex world of mental health, both in the classroom and in life. Founded and run solo, Upside Sunny seeks to create environments where mental health is embraced and understood, fostering compassion and support for both students, educators, and the real-life moments in between.

The name Upside Sunny comes from the founder’s journey with various struggles like, borderline personality disorder (BPD), where mood swings can pull from heavy, dark days to bouncy, light ones. Each night, the hope is always to land on the “Sunny Side” in the morning. This emotional rollercoaster fuels the passion to bring mental health awareness and acceptance into classrooms—where students can feel understood, and teachers feel supported as more than just an educator.

At its heart, Upside Sunny is an effort to normalize mental health conversations while simultaneously offering a humorous lens based in self-acceptance. Through stories of personal struggles and triumphs—whether it’s navigating mood swings or teaching students coping mechanisms—the mission is clear: to help others embrace their own mental health journeys, one day at a time. The hope is to inspire others to wake up, just like the founder does, hoping to land on the sunny side up.
